Master the Start
Task initiation · 14 days · Free
You know what to do. You have known for a while. The problem is the first minute.
Master the Start is two weeks on exactly that minute: what happens between deciding and doing, and how to make it shorter.
If this sounds like you
"I know exactly what to do and I still can't move."
"If I can't do it right I won't do it at all."
"I'll start as soon as I've finished getting ready to start."
"The task is ten minutes. Thinking about it has taken three days."
This is a pattern, not a verdict on you. Patterns change when you work on the mechanism underneath them, and the mechanism here is starting.
What the two weeks look like
Week one is about seeing it. You measure how long starting actually takes you, in two different ways, and you say out loud what happens when you think about a task you have been avoiding. Then you begin using a handful of short, concrete ways to shrink the first step.
Week two is about using it. You point what you have learned at the real things on your list, including one you have been putting off for a while, and you build a plan for the days when starting goes badly, because some will. Near the end you repeat the day one measurements so the report has something true to compare.
Every day is one email and one thing to do. Most things take ten to fifteen minutes. Two days are done away from the screen.
What you get at the end
Your Change Report, written from your own two weeks:
- How fast you started on day one, and how fast at the end, measured the same way both times.
- Where starting is hardest for you, in your own words and from what you did.
- Your daily record: which days you answered and what you said.
- The same question answered three times across the two weeks, so you can hear the difference yourself.
- The plan you built for hard-start days, so it is somewhere you can find it.
It comes as an email, a page you can open any time, and a PDF. It also lives on your Progress page.
Honest lines
This is a program, not a diagnosis. It will not tell you whether you have ADHD or anything else, and it is not a replacement for a clinician, coach or therapist. If you are working with one, the report is yours to bring to them.
It is built on the published science of executive function and on what people actually do in Oracle, and it is measured on you, not on an average. Some people see a large change in two weeks, some see a small one, and either way you will see your own.
Before you start
- One email a day at the hour you choose. One tap to answer.
- A second, optional reminder on days you have not answered by evening. On by default, off with one tap.
- Pause any time from any email. Ninety days to resume.
- Your program data stays within EFOracle. Email is delivered by Postmark. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy, section 5.
- Day 1 runs without an account. The program needs one, and it is free.
Master the Start is free. Pro, $14.99 a month or $125 a year, includes every pathway as it opens and the full Oracle toolset. You do not need Pro for this one.
